About
One Girl Revolution
One Girl Revolution is a nonprofit multimedia organization dedicated to highlighting the stories of everyday women and girls who are changing the world through their lives.
The mission of One Girl Revolution is to elevate the voices and stories of women and girls across the country – and help them to recognize their value, their purpose, and their individual power to change the world through their lives. We believe that every woman has a story; that every woman has a voice and deserves to be heard; and that every woman is a One Girl Revolution and can change the world through her life. We strive to highlight the stories of everyday women and girls who are changing the world through through publically-accessible documentaries, interviews, and other media – and our goal is to inspire all women and girls to embrace their own individual story and power and to be the change that they want to see in the world. We welcome and amplify women’s voices from all backgrounds, disciplines, and perspectives by creating spaces—both physical and virtual—to share stories and engage in meaningful dialogue about the lives and issues facing women and girls in our world today.
We release a new podcast episode every week featuring a conversation with a woman who is changing the world. We tell stories that are often ignored and forgotten because they deserve to be heard, and also because we want every single woman and girl to find a story that resonates with them and helps them to see that they can make a difference through their life. Our platform also features video interviews with women from across the country who are changing the world through their lives.
1 Girl Revolution produced the Emmy-Nominated short documentary “The Girl Inside,” which explores the work of Dr. Laura Biagi and five incarcerated women who participated in a life-changing academic course at Cook County Jail entitled “Storytelling as a Healing Art.” Dr. Biagi was reunited with five of her former students for a special one day course on the power of our voices and storytelling – and what was revealed is “The Girl Inside.”
Our second documentary was “In Tandem,” which follows the inspiring story of Caitlin Cullen and her restaurant in Milwaukee, The Tandem. The restaurant is a social enterprise that gave opportunities to people who had no other options like pregnant women or people coming out of jail who just needed a job, and helped people in the community get back on their feet. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, they closed their restaurant to paying customers, so that Caitlin and The Tandem could feed over 115,000 people in need, an inspiring example of placing community over profit.
Our goal is to educate by placing women’s stories at the forefront. Too many stories slip through the cracks, and One Girl Revolution endeavors to provide a platform for the stories that are too often overlooked in the bustle of modern life. These stories have the power to change the world, and we provide a platform for the stories of what the world should be
